Malt Products

Malt is predominantly used as the basic raw material in beer and whisky.

The grain malt is processed further at both Breweries and Distilleries and this includes heating (which will stabilise the process stream) and filtration (which will remove solid materials).

Grain malt is also used in food products, which include breakfast cereals, confectionary, baked goods, malt vinegar and of course malt extracts which are a primary ingredients many food and soft drink products

The co-products of the malting process are widely used in the animal feed industry. They comprise blends of:

  • Undersized or broken cereal grains
  • Husk and cereal grits
  • Malt rootlets ("culms")
  • Husk and malt grits
  • Cereal fines
